Pathway IT Tea Break Training™

Make a difference with high-quality, focused training.

This article introduces Pathway IT Tea Break Training.

We know how busy people are, and we also know the difference high-quality, focused training can make. We have launched Pathway IT Tea Break Training to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn the secrets to successful project delivery; we understand how full IT professionals’ diaries are!

The current Pathway IT Tea Break courses provide invaluable advice on dress rehearsals and cutover.

Dress rehearsals reduce risk substantially and do more than any other activity to prepare the organisation

for go-live. They can be included in any project, work with all methodologies, and provide a high level of cutover assurance.

Topics in the Tea Break Business Dress Rehearsal course include:

  • What are business scenario dress rehearsals?
  • The principles of dress rehearsals.
  • How do business scenario dress rehearsals differ from testing?
  • What are the objectives of dress rehearsals?
  • What are the benefits?
  • How are dress rehearsals run?
  • How many people take part?
  • When do dress rehearsals start?
  • How long will they take?
  • Where should they take place?
  • Who should manage dress rehearsals?

In this course you will learn the secrets of dress rehearsals. It is based on lessons learnt from the successful delivery of some of the most demanding projects in the UK.

Cutover Tea Break Training

Cutover planning is critical for a smooth transition to BAU, and this is an activity that may not receive

the attention it requires. It’s best practice to include cutover planning from the start of the project. (Strategy, approach, target dates, etc.)

The amount of effort required to plan this will depend on the business objectives, the complexity of the project, the go-live deadline, the number of implementation options, and other factors.

There can be a tendency to push this planning work back, especially on projects with a go-live date of eighteen months or more in the future. This is a mistake, because the implementation strategy can impact development, testing, training, and other

activities.

You will learn how to develop a detailed cutover plan that includes dependencies, activity, resources, communication, checkpoints and post go-live project support. Also, steps to complete a cutover dress rehearsal are included. This will ensure that all

timings are correct.

It is best practice to base the implementation strategy on a risk-averse approach. The idea may seem obvious, but many projects do not give this the amount of thought required.

Topics in the course include:

  • Implementation prerequisites.
  • Cutover impact on operations.
  • Freeze points. (When the existing system, or
  • parts of the system, will no longer be used.)
  • Quality assurance.
  • Dependencies.
  • Key dates.
  • Risk management.
